Slanted Photographs

Even as a writer, sometimes I feel as though I have no words. As my thoughts roll fluidly like a gentle river, calmly meandering and spreading out, my lips remain still, parting only to deliver my breath. There are times when I cannot iterate, and rather, can only experience my emotions.

This is how I find myself this week, and so I am offering my photography in place of my writing or drawing. Please enjoy these portraits and snapshots I’ve taken this past month, which feature my cat, my boyfriend, and some local spots.

Slanted Inktober 2

A few weeks ago, I made a post featuring my Inktober drawings up to Day 11, and gave a brief explanation that Inktober is a month-long drawing challenge where artists draw each day and post it to share with others! (It’s a very informal event, and lots of people interpret it in different ways.) N.T. Ed and Margaret Decide to Have an Autumn Party

Ned Theodore Ed, skull in the palm of his bony hand, looked out the window at the darkening early evening, and sighed.

Margaret noticed N.T. Ed’s shoulders silently heave and slump (for this was the way N.T. “sighed”) and paused her knitting. “What was that for?” Margaret asked, tilting her head and looking at N.T. over the top of her wire-rim reading glasses. They were sitting in Margaret’s living room, N.T. on the couch, and Margaret in her recliner; the lamps on her end tables produced an orangey, cozy hue as the light flickered off her hardwood interior.

N.T. Ed and the Encyclopedia of Dreams: The Epilogue

“Aaaand N.T. with the win!”

The crowd went wild—-or, rather, Reid, Carli, and Talia went wild, cheering and dancing around, as N.T.’s sled crossed over the line drawn in the snow by Reid’s boot. Margaret trailed N.T. by a few seconds, sliding slowly on her toboggan and laughing at her own loss.
